Entrevista ideal con Hunter S. Thompson

Hey Hunter!

First off, allow me to thank you for being here. I know your schedule must be tight (being dead and everything!). I appreaciate the fact that you are letting me interview you.

HT: My pleasure!

So we`ll do it this way: I'll just write them down for you so that you can take your time and answer them later. How about that?

HT: Sounds great to me sonny boy!

Erm ok. Let`s begin

1. It has been rumored that the source of your irony and the energy you put on your work is based on drugs; that without them, you wouldn`t be able to dazzle. Is this true? And if not, what do you have to say about this?

2. I had the chance to read your impressions on the Kentucky Derby. In the end, you clearly make the reader induce that you are too decadent and depraved at heart. If it were so, would your job as a journalist be possible-- culturally speaking?

3. Why do you think your "Las Vegas Book" gained such a huge critical acclaim?

4. After the Rolling Stone magazine rejected the draft of what would become "Fear and Loathing", why did you decide to publish a book out of it?

5. Have you ever participated in a collective drug binge like the ones mentioned in your Vegas story?

6. If you had the chance to write an article about the actual Iraq disaster (with you being sent over there), what would you call it?

7. If you had the chance re-name your style of journalism, what would you call it and why?

8. What if you had to work on normal articles and not Gonzo ones? And if so, what if you lost your appeal by that and readers wouldn't be interested on your work anymore?

9. Your sights on investigation journalism nowadays? Do you think there are a lot of copycats out there who deserve to be called Gonzo ?

10. Did you know there is a Sesame Street Muppet named Gonzo? Would you think of adopting it and making it your trademark from now on? (If you still lived, of course)

the ñapation:

11. If you had to write a Gonzo-book about George Bush and the main failures of the current administration (September 11th, Iraq, health system, etc.), what would be the path? Where would you start? And how do you think it would end?

12. What are your views on the current counterculture and its rights?
